From Bill Elsner,
President, BCAEM
The BCAEM was informed on December 2, 2009 that their Community Gaming Grant application for Emergency Management Training was denied.
Impact of this decision will dramatically affect BCAEM sponsored EM training beginning in April 2010.
Our hope is that the EMBC/PEP finds a way to reinstate secure core funding for sponsored EM training to local authorities.
BCAEM applied for and received funding in 2009 to bridge a gap in service. The use of gaming funds was never considered a sustainable alternative to core funding.
Over the past year a great deal of information was gathered from communities and emergency managers on what their EM training requirements are.
BCAEM will continue to work with EMBC/PEP to ensure your training needs are met in a timely, cost effective and relevant manner.
Our new Training and Exercise Committee will meet very soon. If you have suggestions or ideas on how EM training or delivery could be improved please contact any BCAEM Director.
