BCAEM Members:

  • Are part of a network of BC Emergency Management professionals representing all levels of government, First Nations, academia, students, and the private sector
  • Have opportunities to contribute to advocacy efforts to influence the profession and practice of Emergency Management in BC

The BC Association of Emergency Managers (BCAEM) is now accepting membership renewals for the upcoming calendar year.

To renew your membership for 2019 login to www.bcaem.ca with your username and password and follow the prompts. BCAEM accepts three methods of payment – PayPal, cheque and etransfers. Etransfers can be sent to executive.director@bcaem.ca. If paying via cheque please ensure that payment is forwarded promptly to the address included on your invoice.

When renewing please take the time to update your general contact information as well as information for the deployment database and online service directory. BCAEM is very pleased to announce an exciting new collaboration with the Canadian Risks and Hazards Network (CRHNet).

An agreement is now in place establishing the BCAEM as an affiliate organization to CRHNet. As such, BCAEM members will have the option of joining CRHNet as an individual affiliate member at the discounted rate of $45 (the full CRHNet membership is $75).

Affiliate members are non-voting members, but will be on the CRHNet distribution list and receive all of their informational updates including HAZNet, will be eligible for discounts on CRHNets events, and to participate in CRHNet working groups. This is an excellent opportunity for BCAEM members join a vibrant and expansive emergency management network that includes EM professionals and academics from across Canada, and we hope that many of you will take advantage.

BCAEM members, upon renewing their membership, will receive a voucher code with their email receipt that can be used to purchase a CRHNet affiliate membership.

The Deployment Database is located in the Members menu on the BCAEM website.  Here, members can see other members who are available to assist during an EOC activation.  A number of filters can be applied to the database including region of availability and EOC position.  Clicking “Details” will expand the member’s information to show relevant training, EOC experience and available resources.

In order for the database to be effective, members are encouraged to log in to the website and update their profile with current contact info and EOC experience.  By doing so, other emergency management professionals can find like-minded colleagues to assist when help is needed most.

BCAEM is pleased to continue offering Organizational Memberships for 2019.  Organizational Memberships are intended to offer a significant cost saving to organizations and communities who wish to include a number of emergency management practitioners in the Association.

Organizations must identify a designate who is the only organizational member eligible to:
– vote at Annual General Meetings;
– hold a position on the Board of Directors; and,
– receive discounted rates on conferences and conventions.

Other members of this organization must be identified individually and will:
– receive full access to the website including the members only section and the discussion forum; and
– are eligible to hold a position on a Board appointed Committee.

2017 Fees for Organizational Memberships are as follows:
1-5 members:  $150/calendar year
5-10 members:  $300/calendar year
11-15 members:  $450/calendar year
16-20 members:  $600/calendar year
