Understanding Risk British Columbia 2018 – Toward a Resilient British Columbia: Implementing strategies to reduce natural hazard risk in BC’s Built Environment

    When: April 16/17, 2018
    Where: Victoria, BC

The Understanding Risk BC 2018 symposium is coming up soon! This event follows the very successful UR Vancouver 2017, which brought together a highly diverse and multi-disciplinary group of emergency management professionals, engineers, planners, industry representatives, researchers, and students into an innovative, dynamic, and interactive forum based on international best practices. These events encourage dialogue and collaboration towards practical and actionable strategies to manage and reduce risk and build community resilience. UR BC 2018 will examine how seismic, flood, fire, and other risks interact with the built environment; building and material resilience, risk modelling, construction innovation, recovery strategies, and resilience investment opportunities. This event will be an exciting opportunity to interact with experts and understand the dynamics of hazards, the built environment, and community resilience, and what actionable strategies to reduce risk are available for all emergency management professionals.
